|
| Heard about this forum from Gary Lange and Mark Nicholson so I had to check it out. Too bad it took me so long. Have loved bows since I got my first in 2008 and have been nothing but addicted (hardcore) since then. Just set up my first fish room and its small and rough looking but a nice start. Currently have about 12 bow species and 11 tanks to my name. Just started acquiring the nice, high-quality bows from others on the forum here and plan on doing me first breeding with them any day now that the fish room is there. Hello to everyone else. I look forward to getting/giving information and support. I think this site is just fantastic for anyone in love with bows. |

Thanks for the welcome Lori. And yes...I first found Gary on AB who suggested Jeff and Mark as good quality bow sources other than himself. I bid on an auction of Mark's, started dialoging with him, and have subsequently come to realize that Mark is a genuinely top notch fish keeper and a down to earth nice guy, true to his word. Same goes for Gary...he just amazes me with his wealth and breadth of knowledge about bows. I'm so new to bows but have definitely just become infatuated with them...I don't know how anyone could resist! Recently started breeding and have just really enjoyed learning so much from everyone. Of course, a very special thanks goes out to Gary and Mark for essentially being responsible for steering me down the right paths along the way. All of you folks are just top notch people that really seem to care about one singular thing...the fish!
All I think about all day is rainbow fish...even dream about them too. My love for them has definitely gone to a new level of obsession that most (who do not 'get it') would regard as clinically pathological! I bring a unique background with me to the hobby as my first love is nursing, after my family of course. So much of my knowledge of nursing transfers over to the keeping of fish (e.g. disease outbreak, health promotion, etc.) and I am thankful for that. Anyways...I could talk all day and nobody wants to hear that. Thanks for the welcome again. Hope to have some young bows that I can share with the rest of you soon! _________________ Sincerely,

that first statement is gonna give Mark a big head
and the one after it is gonna give everyone else a big head too
as for dreaming about bows and being clinically insane, that happens.
And the order of preference is fish, nursing & family. Well nursing and family can be swapped around, depends on what your kids are like
I used to dream about stomping through the bush in PNG and coming across a new creek or stream that hadn't been collected. Then my evil side would kick in and I would dream about dropping a stick of dynamite in the creek instead of a net But yes, you can expect to go a little nutty after you keep rainbows |

Naaah.. the check i sent him to say this must have cleared already
I can thank Gary myself for all his patience and shared knowledge as with a lot of good bow keepers here i have learned from...... we all start somewhere..but, better to start right..

Stomping around in the bush and coming across tiny streams or small water sources that had been unexplored...now that would be a dream come true. Gary Lange get's to live that dream out...definitely something to be envious of. Hopefully someday I'll have some grown children (and they all will have decided to get the hell out of the house) and the financial means to attempt that dream...for now, all I can do is continue to dream. I've had a dream that envisions wading through a small stream with a gentle current and the water being sparkling clear somewhere in PNG. As I crouch down to take a closer look in the water, several large schools of different rainbows swim by...slow enough to be able to capture a small group of beautiful specimens of each that would make any bowhead drool uncontrollably. I know...it'll never happen that way even if I ever do make it there. I can still dream though, can't I? _________________ Sincerely,

TRUST ME...THERE ARE DAYS I WOULD NOT MIND! But, then my frustrations and overly-selfish desires melt away and I remember that nothing would ever come before my family. Unfortunately, not even the FISH. Don't worry though...the rainbows come in a close second. _________________ Sincerely,

Welcome, Just so you no, I am in Madison WI, we have a new Madison Area Aquatic Hobbyist club here with a number of members who keep quaility bows. I realize Wausau would be a bit of a trip for a monthly meeting, but we do have an active forum where folks communicate and you can arrange fish deals.

Anyway welcome to this form and hope to see you on the other as well. |
