Hi Tom,
I'll be in Grand Rapids on April 10th giving a talk on collecting rainbowfish. There will certainly be eggs available at the auction and I will be posting, on their site or thru some of their members fish that can be preordered for the event. Certainly a way to get good quality rainbowfish which are hard to find at the LFS.
Check out their site for further info.

Hi Tom,
I'm in Lansing and got into bows a year or so ago I would guess. They certainly are beautiful fish. The first time I saw the head stripe light up on a Melanotaenia lacustris in my LFS I was hooked. I don't have much experience but have did some reading and checked out a few different bows online as well as at my LFS. My LFS is Pruess Pets and I live right up the road. They usually have a decent selection of bows and are constantly getting new stock in. I do think most of them come from Florida and typically run $20-$30 a pair which can get pricy. I don't know of any other place that carries the selection they have though. Staff is typically pretty helpful as well.
I'm really looking forward to meeting Gary in April to hopefully get some good quality livestock. I just clicked on his link and saw that Mike Hellweg is doing a live foods presentation March 13th but I have to work that day 8(. I have been planning on picking up his book for some time now but haven't got around to it. I look forward to seeing your posts and questions.

Tom,
My son owns the Pet Suppliers in Highland Michigan and is a great source for information on rainbowfish. Both of us have keep bows since the 80's and he can steer you in the right direction. The store's phone number is 248-887-1515 and his name is Chris. Feel free to tell him I told you get in touch with him.
