Hi Mark and Gary,

nice photos Mark, doing well with those lovely fishes. And keep the name as Gary said, Melanotaenia sp. "Kiunga" until we know (scientifically) more.

Also have alook what they eventually will be (although yors are already great):

And Gary, maybe you wanted to know the correct spelling is:
Melantaenia goldiei (not goldei as you wrote it). Just for your infp.

All the best
Heiko

Thank you Heiko for the compliments. I was wondering if you would give a brief bio-type description on this beautiful species.I know i chatted through emails about it with you recently and it would be nice to have it here in the species section with them.. Thank you
~Mark

Does this qualify as the best photo ever posted on this forum?

actually shows more blue when relaxed. when excited or in the mood so to speak he shows more of the other brighter colors.I also keep the light pulled forward and slightly angled back on their tank.

Mark,

For years I have thought, "There must be a rainbow fish that has all the colors of the rainbow - thus truly earning that name". Some rainbows have more blue or red or green; some others have many colors. While enjoying your amazing photo of the M. sp. Kiunga, it dawned on me that, well, there it is! A rainbow fish with all the colors of the rainbow. Just absolutely beautiful. Thanks, again, sharing your superb photos with us - and I agree that pic has to be the best photo of a rainbow on this site if not, one of the best of all. And the fish has to be one of the coolest as well.

With my move imminent, simply had to dismantle my tanks, a friend has most of my bows well taken care of. When I get set up again, I'll be able to keep them again.

Dave
